Fall Classic MLB Playoffs

With Fall looming and Halloween right around the corner, that could only mean one thing Oktoberfest! Well that the MLB Playoffs are in full swing. This year there’s some surprises in the playoffs like the Cincinnati Reds and the Texas Rangers, then there’s the mainstays in the playoffs like the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies. Its been an Interesting playoffs to say the least. In his first playoff game Roy Halladay of the Phillies pitched a No Hitter, only the 2nd time in playoff history. The New York Yankees are also looking to sweep the Minnesota Twins and the Texas Rangers also looking for the sweep upset against the Tampa Bay Rays. The San Francisco Giants were also able to slide into the playoffs and are now facing a strong Atlanta Braves team.

Good luck out there to all the fans, once the world series starts be on the lookout for your teams Official Cap from New Era.

Inspiration behind *Kinston Indians*

Today I bring to you the Kinston Indians. They are a MILB team based out of Kinston, North Carolina. The team is a High-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians and they currently play in the Carolina League. Pro baseball in Kinston goes all the way back to 1908 when the city was home to a team in the Eastern Carolina League. Kinston adopted the name “Indians” at the start of their partnership with Cleveland in 1987. They are currently one of the oldest and most successful franchises in their league.

We expected the reaction to the Kinston Indians logos to be like all minor league logos when we first introduce them to Ecapcity.com at first. Slow sales until the customers got used to something different. We were wrong, When we first introduced it, the logo was an instant sellout including the Indian based logo and the very popular feather logo. We hope to continue to drop Kinston Indians in sellout colorways in the near future. For now we bring 2 New Era Fitted Caps.

Inspiration behind *San Jose Sharks*

Probably one of the most favorite and requested logos. Also one of the most recognizable logos. The San Jose Sharks logo is one of our best sellers. A few years ago with Ecapcity.com was first starting we began using the older San Jose Sharks logo at the time to push slowly in the NHL teams and just overall a different feel. Many years later and a team logo change the Sharks logos is still a fan favorite. I’m not sure if you remember but we were one of the first to post the new logo on a New Era Fitted a couple years back on the popular “Grape” colorway. The Sharks came about in the early 1990s when the NHL and Gund Brothers wanted to bring back the NHL to the bay area. The team name was supposed to be the “Blades” but due to fear that people would associate it with violence the team choose the 2nd place name of Sharks. I sometimes find it funny how a simple decision completely changes the outlook of a team. At this point and time we could be talking about the “San Jose Blades”, funny isn’t it?

Ecapcity.com will continue to release San Jose Shark New Era Fitteds. Recently we restocked on the Team Colors of it which always seems to sell out. Hopefully this summer we’ll have some more color ways available.

Inspiration behind *Hartford Whalers*

This week I bring you a little story on the Hartford Whalers, don’t ask me why but the team has a huge following considering the little success they had in the city of Hartford. The team was introduced in 1972  and were known as the New England Whalers while they played with the WHA (World Hockey Association).  The New England Whalers were in the WHA till the 1979 season when them and 3 other teams (Quebec Nordiques, Edmonton Oilers and Winnipeg Jets) join the NHL. The original Hartford Whalers logo (1979–1992) was designed by a Connecticut-based graphic designer. The logo combines a green “W” with a blue whale’s tail to create the letter “H” in the white space. This logo was updated in 1992, the most noticeable change being the darkening of the colors and the addition of a silver background along with small changes to the shape of the whale’s tail were also made.

When the moved was finalized the Boston Bruins insisted on one condition, that the New England Whalers drop “New England” from their name, Thus the Hartford Whalers were born. The team stood in Hartford till 1997, when the teams owner (Peter Karmanos) moved the team down to Raleigh, NC and became the Carolina Hurricanes.

Keep an eye out for more Hartford Whalers and Carolina Hurricanes New Era Caps from Ecapcity.com.

Inspiration behind *New York Giants*

1218

This week i bring to you The New York Giants (no, not those giants). One of my all time favorite Hats along with the classic color scheme of Black, Orange and the Classic Green Undervisor which we just released. What more can be said about this logo? Its self explanatory in the sense its the “N” and “Y” interlocking to form the NY Logo. This logo later on was shaved down and reworked into the New York Mets Current Logo.  Which has been used since the team formed. Be out the look out for more classic New Era Hats.

Inspiration behind *New Jersey Devils *

Devils

Following up to last weeks article on the Vancouver Grizzlies. I figured i continue the theme of popular team logos. This week is our home town team, the New Jersey Devils.

The Devils began play in New Jersey in 1982, They were previously known as the Colorado Rockies before their relocation. They were named after the legend of the Jersey Devil, a creature that is supposed to roam the woods of New Jersey. When the relocation happened there was a contest held by a local newspaper. One of the names that lost was the “Meadowlanders” (Thankfully it didn’t make the cut).

159px-New_Jersey_Devils_old_logo.svg
The Devils’ logo is a combination of the letters “N” and “J”,When the the devil horns were added to the top of the image and the pointed tail at the bottom the logo appears to be a devil with its wing flying. The logo is red with a black outline and lays on a field of white in the middle. Before the change in the 92–93 season, the black circle and outline were green.

Older
Before the 92-93 seasons the teams jerseys were Red, White and Green and were known to some fans as the “christmas colors”. The team made the switch to the Red, Black and White color-way and its been that way ever since.

Current Jerseys

We have a huge Demand for New Jersey Devils fitted Caps at Ecapcity.com. Since its our hometown team we to make as many as possible. Recently we released the basic Black, Red and White colors with the “25th Anniversary patch“, Along with that we always try and keep New Jersey Devils New Era Caps in stock. Here’s a sneak peek of a Devils New Era we currently have in process along with more colorways to come.

Inspiration behind *Vancouver Grizzlies*

Inspiration behind *Vancouver Grizzlies*

This week I introduce to you the Vancouver Grizzlies Logo. One of my all time favorites and a hugely popular logo. We used to get OD requests for this logo. Recently, the NBA and the Memphis Grizzlies decided to release the logo and allow it to be used.

Here’s some backstory on the team incase some of you readers don’t know.  They came into the league in 1995 along with the Toronto Raptors.  They were the Vancouver Grizzlies until the 2001 season when they moved to Memphis. From their first season in the league (1995) they used the same jerseys up until the move the Memphis in 2001. The only change was “Vancouver” to “ Memphis” while they kept the same colors and logos schemes. Then in 2004/2005 season they made the switch to the new jerseys and colors they’re currently using.

Inspiration behind *Vancouver Grizzlies*

When we first received word that Grizzlies logo could in fact be used the first step was to figure out what the consumers would want. So we went with the Team Color way at first. We also made a color way to match the popular Air Jordan 11 “Spacejam” which sold out in about 2 days. We currently have 3 – 5 in production will we be released at later time. Also in working with New Era and the NBA we “reworked” one of their logos for use which should be arriving in a few Months. Here’s a small preview of a Vancouver Grizzlies New Era Fitted that *hopefully* arrive for the Air Max Neon 95 release in March.
