Toronto Blue Jays 1991 All-Star Game & 1997 Canada Day New Era Fitted Hats

ECC FAM,

We’re launching two Canada based MLB New Era fitted hats this week! Here’s the run down on the history of these New Era fitted hats.

The 62nd Major League Baseball All-Star Game between the American League and National League was held on July 9th, 1991 at The Sky dome in Toronto, Ontario. This has only been the second time that the All-Star game was played outside of the United States, as the National League’s Montreal Expos hosted the 1982 All-Star Game at Olympic Stadium in Montreal, Quebec. The game ended with the final score of 4-2 favoring the AL division. Here’s a fun fact. Both pitchers came from Canadian teams; The Blue Jays Jimmy Key earned the win, but Dennis Martinez of the Expos was handed the loss. Now for the fitted hat. The Toronto Blue Jays New Era Hat is done up in their team colors and has the ’91 All-Star Game patch on the right side as well as a Grey underbrim.

On Tuesday, July 1st, 1997, the Toronto Blue Jays played their 2nd game of a 3 game series against the Montreal Expos. The first game they played on June 30, 1997 was actually their first time playing each other because Inter league play was introduced that year and it happened to coincide with Canada Day. How Fitting! The Expos took the win with the final score of 2-1, and Jeff Juden of the Expos was given the W, while Roger Clemens of the Blue Jays took a loss. We used the Blue Jays ’97 logo to make this Canada Day New Era fitted Hat. The crown is Red and the brim is Royal Blue with a Grey under brim.
