The 1997 World Series featured the Cleveland Indians, who were playing in their 2nd World Series in 3 years. Their opponents were the Florida Marlins, who had set a record by reaching the Fall Classic in only their 5th season. The Marlins were underdogs, but they capped an amazing season by stunning the Indians 7 games, becoming the 1st ever Wild Card team to win the Series. Game 7 was decided in extra innings on an Edgar Renteria single, the World Series was decided on October 26th.
On October 31, 1997, most of the fan favorites of the 1997 Marlins were traded, Moises Alou, who was traded to the Houston Astros, and Al Leiter to the New York Mets, in a fire sale so infamous that it has come to synonymize the term in the baseball world. World Series MVP pitcher Liván Hernández, however, stayed with the team for two more years. The Marlins had a record of 54–108 in 1998, the worst performance ever by a defending World Series champion.

The 1995 World Seriesmatched the Atlanta Braves against the Cleveland Indians. The Braves winning in 6 games to capture its 3rd World Championship in franchise history (the 1st in 1914 in Boston and 2nd in 1957 in Milwaukee), also making them the 1st franchise to win 3 crowns in 3 different cities. The Series was also Cleveland’s first Series appearance in 41 years and resumed the World Series because it was canceled due to a players strike in the previous season.
The 1995 World Series provided the only world championship of the 1990s to the decade’s most dominant National League team—the Atlanta Braves. After heartbreaking defeats to the Minnesota Twins and Toronto Blue Jays, Atlanta was trying for the 3rd time in 5 years to capture a title.
After years of terrible play, the city of Cleveland finally had a winner. The Indians batted over .300 as a team during a shortened regular season in which they won 100 games and won their division by a impressive 30 games. They swept the Boston Red Sox in the opening round, then held off the Kid, Ken Griffey, Jr. and the red hot Seattle Mariners in the ALCS. Their offense was and still is, considered one of the best if not best “on paper” lineups of all time. Led by Kenny Lofton and Omar Vizquel at the top of the lineup, the Indians offense was driven by the middle and their power hitting of Albert Bell, Manny Ramirez, Eddie Murray and Jim Thome. Coming off the bench was Dave Winfield in his last professional season. Cleveland’s pitching staff, which was made up of aging veterans such as Orel Hershiser and Dennis Martinez, was seen as their only weakness.

With the upcoming release of Disney’s Epic Mickey for the Wii console, New Era is offering a Disney’s Epic Mickey New Era fitted Hat to celebrate the much anticipated video game. Epic Mickey is part of an effort by The Walt Disney Company to re-brand the Mickey Mouse character by moving away from his current pleasant, cheerful image and reintroducing the more devious side of his personality. Ecapcity.com continues its trend of Vintage 1993 World Series Custom New Era Hats releases with this line up. They both feature the favored green under brims along with world series patchs to give you that look and feel as if it was 93 all over again.
The 1993 World Series was the 2nd Series in a row with games played in Canada and the 2nd Series to be won by a Canadian team. It was also the first and to this date, the only, World Series to be finished outside of the United States.
It featured the defending champion Toronto Blue Jays of the American League against the National League champion Philadelphia Phillies. With Toronto ahead 3 games to 2 in the Series, Joe Carter hit a game-winning three-run home run in the bottom of the 9th inning of Game 6 to win the series for Toronto, its 2nd consecutive championship and the first repeaters since the 1977-1978 New York Yankees.
This was the first time where a come-from-behind walk off home run won a World Series.

The 1992 World Series was the first Fall Classic ever with games played outside the United States. It featured the American League champion Toronto Blue Jays against the National League champion Atlanta Braves. The Blue Jays went on to defeat the Braves, 4 games to 2. Making it the 1st time a team based outside the United States won the World Series.
Another Historic moment in the 1992 World Series is that Blue Jays manager Cito Gaston became the first African American manager to win a Fall Classic.
That Season was also the year that Fay Vincent was forced to resign and was replaced by Bud Selig (then owner of the Milwaukee Brewers and current commissioner ) on what was originally perceived to be an “interim basis.”

Now here’s a little back story for those who don’t know about Wu-Tang (shame on you).
The Wu-tang Clan is a highly regarded hip-hop group (some say the best) from New York City that consists of RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, and the late great Ol’ Dirty Bastard. They are frequently joined by fellow childhood friend Cappadonna, a honorary member of the group. They were formed in, and are still associated with the New York City borough of Staten Island also referred to as Shaolin by the group, though some of their members are from Brooklyn and one is from The Bronx.
The Wu-Tang Clan was assembled in 1992 with RZA as the de facto leader and the group’s producer.RZA and Ol’ Dirty Bastard adopted the name for the group after the film “Shaolin and Wu Tang”. The group’s debut album spun a Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang theme, dividing the album into Shaolin and Wu-Tang sections.
The Wu-Tang Clan first became known in 1993, following the release of the independent single “Protect Ya Neck”, which immediately gave the group a huge underground following, especially after their tour with Kat Nu and Cypress Hill. There was some difficulty in finding a record label that would sign the Wu-Tang Clan and still allow each member to record solo albums with other labels. Loud/RCA finally agreed, which in turn allowed them to release their debut album, “Enter the WuTang (36 Chambers) ” in 1993. This album turned out to be critically-acclaimed, and to date is regarded as one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time.
