Stewed Screwed and Tattooed.

January 31st, 2010 — 06:09 pm

All of us have our own different styles and its nice to be able to sit down at the end of the day and talk about a common interest that isn’t work related. Shayne recently started working on his sleeve so i thought it would be a good idea to bless this newbie with his own little post to show off. He is really into Japanese traditional art and he just wanted to be as simple as possible so he went with the traditional koi fish, waves and lotus flowers. It is already starting to look great with the line work and shading(props to Davey and Monarch Tattoo) and I’m sure once this project is done it will elegant as most Japanese pieces are.

Inspiration behind *Vancouver Grizzlies*

January 30th, 2010 — 06:00 am

Inspiration behind *Vancouver Grizzlies*

This week I introduce to you the Vancouver Grizzlies Logo. One of my all time favorites and a hugely popular logo. We used to get OD requests for this logo. Recently, the NBA and the Memphis Grizzlies decided to release the logo and allow it to be used.

Here’s some backstory on the team incase some of you readers don’t know.  They came into the league in 1995 along with the Toronto Raptors.  They were the Vancouver Grizzlies until the 2001 season when they moved to Memphis. From their first season in the league (1995) they used the same jerseys up until the move the Memphis in 2001. The only change was “Vancouver” to “ Memphis” while they kept the same colors and logos schemes. Then in 2004/2005 season they made the switch to the new jerseys and colors they’re currently using.

Inspiration behind *Vancouver Grizzlies*

When we first received word that Grizzlies logo could in fact be used the first step was to figure out what the consumers would want. So we went with the Team Color way at first. We also made a color way to match the popular Air Jordan 11 “Spacejam” which sold out in about 2 days. We currently have 3 – 5 in production will we be released at later time. Also in working with New Era and the NBA we “reworked” one of their logos for use which should be arriving in a few Months. Here’s a small preview of a Vancouver Grizzlies New Era Fitted that *hopefully* arrive for the Air Max Neon 95 release in March.

Daniel Berenson – Finalist #1

I don’t know if you can call this story outrageous like Chief suggested it could be, but here goes. My freshman year in college, I joined a campus group. Didn’t know much about it at the time, but I liked to have a good time, so it seemed like the right fit for me. As a member, we often found ourselves in some pretty ridiculous situations. The one I enjoyed the most though was a tradition we called wing night. My class and I sat down around a table in the middle of our house, 2 hotplate style containers in front of us. “10 minutes,” someone said as the tops were lifted off the containers. From the second the smell hit our faces, we all knew it was on. They were called, “Triple nasty wings”, and they lived up to the name and then some. The spell alone could burn your nose hairs clean off, and the taste numbed your mouth. We devoured 100 wings in 10 mins, some people puked and others looked like there was a fire in their pants. I finished my last wing, and with a sigh of relieve, raised my hand to wipe the sweat from my face. About a half second later, it hit me. Not, “wow, what an awesome job, I feel so accomplished” or any of that crap. Instead, all i thought was, “OMG my eyes are going to bleed.” The smart one that I am, I wiped triple nasty hot sauce all on my face and eyes. The burning was intense, and i ended up pouring a beer on my face to stop the pain. Ready for the tie in to the picture? Ok, me too. Nowadays, I spend a lot of my time thinking about all the ridiculous things I did in college, and the friends I made. ^^ That’s how I look when I do it.

Brian Ray – Finalist #2

On cold dark winter night, everyone looks for some color in the air. Cruising around looking for the adventure so easily found on a warm summers night. The journey leads the wanders to the highest point of view in the nearby area. Looking out over the city, filled with boring regular everyday hats, one hat, one person, a uniqueness stands atop everyone. Carefully watching over his new domain, rocking his old school Vancouver Canucks throwback hat, he thinks to himself this is my city. His own personal cap city, filled with followers with the everyday on-field caps. Yes, they are good hearted people wearing the good caps, but they are the same, diversity is small in this city. But now with the new leadership, of a king who wears uniqueness on his crown, comes a New Era.

Imraan Ali Shameem – Finalist #3

A cold January twenty-ten in the nations capital.  Tourists come, tourists go- but the soul of the city will always be.  A city that contains the nations debt along with the nations wealth.  A place that is known for its museums and other historical sites but is not known for the diversity and enticing nightlife.  The relaxing ride in on i-395 with all of my 400 horses propelling me into the city, and it’s because of the allure that I even come.  The city is beautiful, but it’s the people that are monumental.  ECAP City 2010.

Inspiration behind *The Begining*

January 23rd, 2010 — 06:00 am

This is the first article in a series of weekly ones I’m going to be writing. Basically what I’m going to do is just go in depth on logos and designs and the team themselves. Show the inspiration behind the designs and what goes on in the process.  Possibly, in the later articles give the readers a chance to have input on hats or vote accordingly. Also sneak peeks on products before they release, from the design phase all the way to production. This week is just gonna be this intro. Starting next week we’re going to go in-depth on a few of my favorite teams and their logos and popular logos, But as promised here’s a small sample of some hats that still haven’t release yet.

To My Surprise.

January 22nd, 2010 — 01:04 pm

So, the night was winding down and I was laying on my couch browsing through channels on my TV, and to my surprise……….. Food Network was back. You don’t know how happy I was. I texted half of my contacts and posted my excitement on Facebook through my status. For those of you who don’t live in the tri-state area, a group called Scripps were disputing with Cablevision (a cable carrier in NJ) and didn’t reach an agreement. That, in turn, made Scripps pull the TV channels from Cablevision (Food Network & HGtv) as soon as the new year came around.  As the heated battle continued, Scripps was asking Cablevision for $20million. SMH. Whatever.. everything was settled and I can watch TV a happy man again.. word to Bobby Flay. Food Network.. you complete me.
